Nadya Okamoto is the founder and director of the youth run organization “Period” who provide and celebrate menstrual hygiene through advocacy, education and service. She comes on the show to learn the Chinese word for “period” and discusses the work of her organization, which has already provided help and assistance to tens of thousands of people globally. She also learns some of the many words in Chinese which refer to “periods” in an indirect way!

The Chinese word for “period” is 月經/月经 which is made up of 月 which means “month” and 經/经 which means “endurance”; 月經/月经 “monthly endurance” or “period.”
